Friedman Rubin Welcomes Isabel Sanner to the team

Isabel Sanner has wanted to be a lawyer since seventh grade. Now, she’s joining Friedman Rubin to pursue the kind of advocacy that inspired her to go to law school in the first place.
 
Isabel’s interest in the law started with a simple idea: she wanted to help people find a way forward when they felt like they had nowhere else to turn. She was drawn to the profession because she saw lawyers as advocates who could help create greater equality and be a catalyst for change. As the first person in her immediate family to attend law school, becoming a lawyer was a goal she pursued with a special purpose.
 
At Seattle University School of Law, Isabel found her home in advocacy. She competed regionally and nationally in Moot Court and Dispute Resolution Competitions and served in leadership of the Latinx Law Student Association. But it was her experiences outside the classroom that ultimately cemented her interest in plaintiff-side litigation.
 
Isabel first discovered personal injury law while working at the Law Office of J.D. Smith. She later worked as a legal assistant and intern at Schroeter Goldmark & Bender, where she saw more closely what it means to advocate for people who have been harmed and are seeking accountability. Those experiences made plaintiff-side work feel like more than a career path; they made it feel like the right fit.
 
“I’ve always wanted to be the person who helps someone see the light at the end of the tunnel,” Isabel says. “Plaintiff-side work gives me the opportunity to stand beside people when they are going through some of the most difficult experiences of their lives and fight for them.”
 
Along the way, Isabel also gained experience on the other side of the courtroom and in public-interest advocacy. She served as a Rule 9 Legal Extern for the Honorable Richard A. Jones at the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and completed an externship with the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project.
 
Isabel became interested in Friedman Rubin because of the firm’s approach to trial advocacy and its commitment to its clients, which was what ultimately drew her in.
 
“I knew I wanted to work somewhere where the people and the work genuinely mattered,” Isabel says. “Friedman Rubin felt like that place.”
 
Now, as she begins the next chapter of her career, Isabel is excited to put her advocacy skills to work alongside a team of experienced trial lawyers and continue learning from every case, client, and courtroom.
 
When she’s away from the office, Isabel is usually looking for an excuse to get outside or plan her next trip. She loves traveling, hiking, swimming, spending time with family and friends, and watching movies.
 
And, of course, after wanting to become a lawyer since seventh grade, she’s pretty excited to finally get to do it!
