Friedman Rubin Welcomes Investigative Journalist and Documentary Filmmaker Amy Herdy as Investigator

Amy Herdy is joining Friedman Rubin as an investigator, bringing a career spent exposing wrongdoing, uncovering difficult truths, and giving a voice to people whose stories might otherwise go unheard.

Herdy’s relationship with Friedman Rubin began in 2016, when she first met attorneys Rick Friedman and Peter Mullenix while conducting research for the documentary that would become The Bleeding Edge. The 2018 Netflix Original investigated systemic failures in the medical device industry and the devastating consequences for patients. The film received both the George Polk Award for Medical Reporting and the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Silver Baton Award—the first documentary feature to receive both honors.

After The Bleeding Edge, Herdy began the investigative work that would become HBO’s Allen v. Farrow, a project that required vigorous reporting and an extraordinary level of dedication.

Herdy went on to lead the fact-checking effort for Netflix’s Harry & Meghan, working closely with legal teams in both the United States and the United Kingdom on one of the most closely scrutinized documentary series of its time. Her work has included relentless reporting, meticulous fact-checking, extensive witness interviews, and building compelling narratives from complex facts.

Over the years, Herdy stayed in touch with Friedman and Mullenix and developed a deep respect for the firm’s commitment to advocacy—defending the underdog, standing up to powerful institutions, pursuing civil rights and social justice, and holding rule breakers accountable.
