Medical Malpractice

Despite advances in the medical field, medical professionals make mistakes and technology sometimes fails. A recent report in the Journal of Patient Safety says hospital errors are the third leading cause of death in the U.S. Preventable harm suffered by patients, known as “adverse events” occur too often. If you or someone you love has suffered a catastrophic, life-changing injury as the result of the mistake or carelessness of a doctor, hospital, nurse or other medical professional, we can help.

Medical malpractice occurs when a medical professional fails to meet the standard of care needed by a patient. This may occur in the initial diagnosis of a patient, when a doctor fails to notice and important symptom or simply does not recognize a serious illness for what it is, possibly discharging the patient or prescribing the wrong treatment. It may also occur before or during any type of medical treatment or in post-operative care. Medication errors, surgical injuries, birth injuries, misdiagnosis and anesthesia errors are some of the types of errors that can give rise to medical malpractice liability. Patients have a right to receive proper treatment for their medical conditions, whatever they may be.
